“Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, for he has visited and redeemed his peopleand has raised up a horn of salvation for usin the house of his servant David”.. Luke 1:68-69
Greetings to you, the people of God. I greet you in the name of our Lord Jesus. Truly this is another great season in which we are able to celebrate the coming of our Redeemer, the One who came as Savior to the world – that man might be saved from their sins. His name is Jesus.
I am blessed, after being out for a number of weeks, to be able to return to pulpit ministry for this Lords Day. In this day, we here at Christ’s Chapel continue to celebrate the Advent season, looking to the blessed return of the Lord Jesus, as we give God glory and praise for his coming as the Christ child. Luke, chapter 1, details for you and I the visitations of the angel of the Lord unto Zacharias and unto Mary, the mother of Christ. As we examine these accounts of the miracle working power of God we find that both the physical events and the prophetic are interwoven as God gives to us the promise of who Jesus is for you. In the prophecy of the coming Jesus given forth by Zacharias (v68), we find that Jesus is our blessed redeemer, reinforcing the declaration given by the angel of the Lord unto Joseph, (Mt. 1:21), “he shall save his people from their sins”. Zacharias goes on prophesy (v69) that the Lord God has raised up a horn of salvation (Jesus), for us in the house of his servant David. Here, the horn is utilized as a symbol of exalted power and kingship. To reference the horn was to exalt the power and authority upon him yet to be born of Mary! Today, in like manner, as we take a hold of the redeeming Grace of Christ Jesus, I encourage you to declare Jesus as the horn of your salvation. All authority in heaven and on earth (Mt.28:18) has been given unto Him. You are able to sing as the hymn of old proclaims ‘I have been redeemed by the blood of the Lamb, redeemed through His infinite mercy, His child and forever I am. I have been redeemed!’
Come this Lord’s Day as we look to the word of God for its fullness in power in this blessed season of honoring Jesus our Lord. Services begin at 10:30 a.m.. All are welcome to join us in person and as well online (https://www.cc-fga.org/join- us-online/).
Let this Christmas season be filled with the glory of the Lord! May we raise our voices together in worship, giving Jesus Christ all honor and praise. We look forward to having you with us.
Sincerely,
Pastor Simeon Strauser
