Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving.Colossians 4:2
To the church, the apostle writes with a reminder of the importance of failing not to come before God Almighty in frequency and constancy ‘continuing' in prayer ‘with thanksgiving’. As we study this passage, it is understood that the entire congregation is being addressed. By example, we are being encouraged to offer prayer to God always, for the daily trials and challenges experienced; our health; daily bread; temporal needs; power for endurance; spiritual strengthening and renewing and an abundance of the inexhaustible grace of our Lord Jesus.
This exhortation continues further to state, ‘watch’, or be watchful to attend to prayer; make it a point to do so ‘with thanksgiving’. Church, a spirit of thanksgiving is produced as you walk in the assurance of knowing that God is attentive to your prayers. Psalm 100:3-4 reads
