Good Day Church,
As we give thanks before God, we do so with a rejoicing spirit for your testimony of the work of Christ Jesus in your life.
While giving thought of the expanse of the ministries of Christ Chapel this week, I was brought before the Lord in prayer. Prayer for each of you. The months have been coming and going, often times at what seems to be a faster pace than ever. Many of you, as parishioners with Christ’s Chapel have been unable to attend in person, now since the early days of this past March. This is a very long space of time to not be in the house of God together with your fellow brothers and sisters in the Lord. Please know that Christ’s Chapel is open each Sunday at 10:30 for worship, prayer and the Word, all while we call on every participant to practice safe guidelines with masks (for all over age of 3), sanitization, and social distancing. The same holds true for devotion and fellowship on Thursday evenings at 6:45PM. Be reminded today, our spiritual health depends on being fed by the word of God (Matthew 4:4). Please be with us in person if and when you are able, and when absent, do regularly keep yourself independently or together with family, in study of God’s word.
This week I am going to challenge you to open your Bible to Ephesians, chapter 5 for study. Here, the Lord speaks to us regarding the relationship between husbands and wives, being in the like manner to which Christ loves and is head of the church. We also find in this chapter, that as the children of God are followers of God, you become the children of light. A light unto those walking outside of a relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ.
While this passage of scripture holds many truths and is a full breadth of teaching, for this devotion piece, I would like to call your attention to a few particular areas. In this day where the world around us can often feel as if it is brewing near a point of bubbling over, God is calling His people to be a light in the midst of the works of the enemy, satan himself. Please remember, if and when the voice and actions of man are clearly outside of the ways of the Lord, no matter the reason or who it is from, it is not of God.
Those who are followers of God, are to (vs 1) walk in the love of God, as Christ has loved us and ‘hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour’. You are to be (vs 6) watchful, letting no man man deceive you with vain words. Nor are you to be partakers with them. The child of God here is reminded to walk as a saint of God, (vs 3) free of fornication, uncleanness, covetousness, (vs 4) filthiness, foolish talking, jesting, (vs 8) as a child of light, giving forth the fruit of the Spirit (vs 9) in all goodness and righteousness and truth. In this day, you may see and experience evil (vs 16), however you are called to redeem the time – make good use of the day which God has given.
Be encouraged today, Christ Jesus is the head of your life! By His grace and calling, you will be the light that will penetrate the (vs 8) darkness. Let your light so shine today! Be filled (vs 18) with the Spirit, (vss 19-20) speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Let us make difference! Be a witness today.
