Let’s Think about Foundations
Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in Him, established in the faith as you were taught, and abounding in thanksgiving. Colossians 2:6-7
Precious Greetings in the Name of our Lord Jesus.
It is not often that the home owner will give thought to the foundation of the home in which they live. The foundation may be inspected at time of purchase, when acquiring property insurance, or at the moment of a catastrophe such as a flood.
In reality, you may be able to say as many, ‘I am thankful that I am able to trust the foundation of my home’. To be able to have such confidence in the original construction I believe it is a good thing, however it is prudent to insure that a quality inspection is done from time to time.
In the same manner, as God’s people, we are encouraged to not ignore our spiritual foundation. It is prudent to give thought often of how much the Lord Jesus means to us. And just how we are being supported by His word. As Colossians 2:6-7 reminds us, in our walk we are to be rooted (anchored) and built up in him, all by the power of his Word. We are to be well established (existing) in the teaching, overflowing with praise and thanksgiving. Let not your faith waiver today!
When the rain comes down and the storms rise, man will trust for the earthly home to stand strong. I ask, do you have that confidence today for your spiritual foundation? Church, hear the word of God today. No matter the events of the day, know that you can be assured that your foundation in Christ stands firm for all eternity. Keep your mind stayed on Him. Let his salvation, love, forgiveness, peace, faithfulness, and His grace be your foundation that will never fail. Jesus is the solid rock of your salvation. He is the One who holds you up! Rejoice today as the psalmist, ‘The Lord lives, and blessed be my rock, and exalted be the God of my salvation!!! (Ps. 18:46).
